!  PLEASE READ ME FIRST  !

The latest official version of MPlayer - RC2  (which is used to display Video Preview) found in the official site is BUGGY, outdated and crashes.  Huh
It can not properly play ASS subtitles.

Thus, I had to cache a working version of MPlayer. Please download the working version from here!.

After installing, make sure you open Preferences->Player->Wizard and (manually?) inform the wizard of the newly installed MPlayer location.

UPDATE:
Beta version of Jubler is also supposed to support MPlayer OSX extended. Probably you should have a go with it, too.

Hey, I had that problem. I downloaded the new version of mplayer, but when manually locating the mplayer, an error occurs saying "invalid executable".
Do you know what this means?

Cheers

The MPlayer that works with Jubler can be found at http://ftp.free.fr/MPlayer/releases/

The file you want is MPlayerOSX_1.0rc1.dmg

Excellent!
Thank you for that link.
I now have JUBLER Version 4.1.3, the above version of Mplayer, and Aspell installed and running fine on my Mac, (an old Power PC), under OS 10.5.5. with QT 7.5.5.

Actually started working on adding subtitles to a film. Just reading through the Tutorial PDF.

Note for Mac Users: I initially used a MOV version of the film in JUBLER that I'm adding titles to; but had issues with audio and video playing out of sync. I re-encoded the MOV file to an AVI file (DivX codec) and it's fine.

Has anyone been able to get this to work under Snow Leopard 10.6.2 yet? I've tried many different versions of MPlayer, including MPlayer Extended, and the MPlayer application inside it, but I just can't get things to work properly.

Most of the time, I'm working with h.264 encoded 1080p mkv content, which plays fine in VLC, MPlayer Extended, and the Plex Media Management Application that I ultimately view files on.

The MPlayer binaries are now very old, is it possible to use anything else?

Snow Leopard has been out for a few months now, I'd be surprised if no-one is using this.

The binaries are old, but they work.
Did you try these binaries and didn't work for you?

The proposed MPlayer binary is not officially supported by the MPlayer team and crashes with signal 11.
I know MPlayer is a pain Sad

EDIT: I have contacted the author of MPlayer OSX extended. Let's see if we can sort this out.

EDIT2: I there is a workaround to use this version of MPlayer - stay tuned!

Thanks very much for taking a look into this.

I'm patiently waiting to hear what I need to do to regain functionality.

A new version of Jubler (will be) required.
The problem is how to both sopport the regular version of Jubler *and* this one.
I'll find a way, though Smiley

(or maybe I should drop support of the old version?)

OK, that's great. Do you have any idea when the new version will be available? Should I send a donation to get things progressed  Wink
